An Uplifting Listen for Anyone

This morning, I learned that the world lost a special guy last Friday. Tonight, I sought out his "Last Lecture," so I could get to know who this Randy Pausch was.

His last lecture at Carnegie Mellon University is available for viewing at YouTube, and it's worth every one of the seventy-six-and-a-half minutes. Listen to him; you'll thank me later.

I'm feeling uplifted, and not surprisingly, I'm noticing how much I cherish the man I'm married to. Jeff, wordsmith that he is, can lift me up, too, with his selections of carefully chosen words.

Beyond cherishing my husband, I'm empathizing now with Dr. Pausch's wife, Jay, and the loss she and their children are feeling now. They must be so proud of his legacy, and yet miss him all the more for the world's posthumous outpouring of warmth for the man, her darling husband, their beloved Dad.

I've downloaded Dr. Pausch's lecture from iTunesU onto my iPod, and I will listen to it again -- soon -- because it makes me feel hopeful. Again, I'll laugh; I'll cry; and I'll give it two thumbs up!

To Carnegie Mellon University, Thank you for sharing this program freely.

To Mrs. Randy Pausch and your children, I'm sorry for your loss. I don't know what else to say.

To You, I'm heading out for a quick run. Goodnight.
